Welcome to the Li-Ning ABC Championship 2025! We’re thrilled you’re joining us for a fun, competitive day of badminton at the NZ Badminton Centre. Whether you’re chasing that A Grade title or simply out to enjoy some great matches with friends, we’re committed to making the event fair, smooth and enjoyable. Rules and Regulations
1. All players are expected to have read and be familiar with the "Conditions of Entry and Play" prior to submitting an entry.

Rules of Play
Matches will be played in accordance with the Laws of Badminton and the regulations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), as adopted by Badminton New Zealand. -
Reporting Time & Defaults
Players must report by 8:30 am. If you are not ready to play within two minutes of being called to court, you may be defaulted. The draw, schedule and times will be available on Tournament Software on Wednesday 10th Dec 2025 -
Umpiring & Line-Judging
All players may be required to act as an umpire or line judge when called upon. Your help keeps the tournament running smoothly.
5. Entry Acceptance & Event Viability
The Tournament Director reserves the right to:
• Cancel or combine any event with insufficient entries.
• Modify scoring systems or formats if required due to time constraints.
• Default players who are not ready at their scheduled time.
• Re-grade players if appropriate for fair competition.

6. Player Replacement
Replacement partners after the draw is published may be permitted only with the Tournament Director’s approval. Replacements must be of equal or lower grading and must already be entered in the tournament, Only one player per pair may be substituted.
7. Substitution - Substitution is allowed in the doubles events from players either already entered in the tournament or as a new player, with the replacement to be approved by the Tournament Director. Only one player in each pair in the draw can be substituted. If two players from two different pairs in the same event are put together, the placement of the new pair shall be at the position of the pair seeded in the highest seeding group. If none of the pairs are seeded, or seeded in the same seeding group, the position shall be drawn by lot between positions of the two original pairs.

Doubles Entries
For doubles events, both partners must submit their entry forms and payment by the closing date. It is not the responsibility of NZ Badminton Centre to follow up on missing partner entries. - Withdrawal & Refunds
- If you withdraw after the closing date, no refund will be made unless a valid medical certificate is provided at the time of withdrawal.
- A $10 administration fee applies to all refunds.
- Once the draw is published, no refunds will be given under any circumstances.

Dress Code & Footwear
Proper badminton attire is required. Shoes must be non-marking Badminton shoes. Please respect the venue’s facility requirements. Players will be disqualified if any player do not have badminton shoes or appropriate sports clothing accepted in tournaments. -
Liability & Risk
Participation is at your own risk. Neither the organisers nor the venue accepts liability for injury, damage or loss incurred during the tournament. Players are encouraged to have their own personal or sports insurance. -
Tournament Directors Decision
The Tournament Director’s decision on any matter pertaining to the Rules of Play and Laws of Badminton is final. - Competitors must obtain permission from the Tournament Director to leave the Hall

Facility Logistics
Vending machines with drinks & snacks will be available; There will be food & drinks available from pro-shop and catering services on site. Parking will be limited so carpooling is recommended.

2. Entry Numbers:
We anticipate that all entries will be included in the draw however if capacity is exceeded, we may run either 1) qualification rounds, or as a last measure 2) cap number of entries on a first-come-first served basis with those not entered the draw receiving a full refund -
- Grading Structure [as a guide]
- A Grade: Players who have [in the last 2 years] competed for a NZ Senior or Junior Team, Inter-association Divisions 1–3 or Masters Section 1.
- B Grade: Players who have competed in Inter-association Divisions 4–5, Masters Sections 2–3.
- C Grade: Players who have not participated in any of the above levels.
- Players uncertain of their grade should contact the Tournament Controller before entering.
- The Tournament Director reserves the right to allocate participants to the appropriate grade at their discretion, particularly if players partner with a player of a different grade
- Format of Play
- Preliminary matches will be played as one game to 31 points (no extensions
- Finals which will be best of 3 games to 21 (settings apply)
- All pairs are guaranteed a minimum of 3 matches
- Seeding will be completed referencing the latest Badminton New Zealand National Rankings available at the date of entries closing and final seedings will be at the Tournament Director’s discretion
- Feather shuttles will be supplied by NZ Badminton Centre

Entry Fee & Deadline
The entry fee is $30 per person. Entries and full payment must be received by Friday, 5 December 2025, 11:59pm. Late payment or incomplete entries may result in withdrawal even if the online form was submitted on time. -

Media Consent
By entering this tournament, you agree that photographs and/or video recordings of matches or practice sessions may be taken and managed by the organisers or sponsors. These images may be used for promotional purposes (including websites, social media, event displays). No material will be used for illegal or improper purposes. All images and footage will be used responsibly, respecting participants’ privacy and dignity.
