Today the whole world is flooded with updates, statistics, warnings, cures, opinions which are non-regulated and puts everyone in a “panic” mode.
Many of them are politically & economically biased. Therefore our advise is to not trust or believe everyone in the media including this message but make your own decisions .
Our message to everyone including badminton players:
Listen only to your Own Govt official Ministry of health instruction & follow for your physical well being.(even if you do not personally believe) https://www.health.govt.nz/
Listen only to your own spiritual leader (pastor , …) and follow advise if you are a believer for your spiritual/mental well being. (even if you are confused )
Trust & believe that your countries leaders and spiritual leaders are being proactive in the common interest of all NZ Citizens.
Either ignore everything else or google and analyse opposite view and info in the media if you have too much time in your hand which we do not recommend.
Just Get on with your life Do not “Panic”
Specifically to Badminton Players
At NZBC we have taken every precaution re hygiene and put in place all required rules.
“Washing hands, do not touch your face ” has been the most common & popular advise
However many players have advised its not feasible & practical to not touch your face which you have done for many decades.
Many have practically tried and found it unsuccessful.
We have found the following info very practical & useful when you play badminton. Try it out and see it for yourself.
- Keep your right(dominant) hand exclusively for the Racquet holding and touching exclusive personal items including face, eating, computer mouse, writing etc
- Use your left(non-dominant) hand exclusively for activities others may be involved such as, Shuttles, EFPOS, cash dealings, public computer mouse, door knob, taps, toilets, etc.
- On top of this wash your hands regularly and maintain Racquet & Arm distance.
- Best to follow this even after the corona pandemic.
