The slippery conditions previously affecting a few courts during wet bad weather or very high humid conditions few times a year have now been fixed so the possibilities are minimised so ensuring safer play all year round.
Our newly built grey courts have always been non-slippery regardless of weather or humidity. Out of the 25 courts, only 5 were affected during humidity levels above 90%. After thorough research and remedial action, these courts have now been treated and tested for over two months in all types of bad weather.
We sincerely thank our members for their patience and understanding while these courts were unavailable during the maintenance period.
Footwear and Safety Practices
We also extend our thanks to all members who are now wearing only proper badminton shoes, which provide extra health and safety protection in all seasons. In addition, here are a few recommended practices to help keep improve the court conditions making it more safer and enjoyable for everyone:
-
Arrive with badminton shoes in hand
– this is the best practice and is highly respected by staff and fellow players. -
Keep soles clean
– even badminton shoes can become slippery if dusty. Regularly clean and wipe the rubber soles. -
Use shoes only on court
– avoid wearing your badminton shoes outside. This keeps them clean and also extends their lifespan. -
Bring a spare pair
– wear slip-ons or casual shoes to the venue, then change into your badminton shoes in the changing room. -
Carry a damp cloth
– wipe your shoes from time to time during play for maximum grip. -
Clear the court
– before playing, check that the court is free of dust, feathers, or shuttles. After your session, kindly clear away any leftover feathers or shuttles for the next players.
We look forward to your cooperation and contributions in keeping the courts safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.
